Sigilization

The early magickal practices used to be heavily based on Alchemy, which still influences modern traditional and hermetics-based practices. Chaos Magick, during its birth, was not a practice, but simply a collection of methods to effectively manifest your intent, especially with the use of sigils and hypersigils [see Austin Osman Spare]. All of these follow specific but arbitrary processes, which unravel themselves the more the chaote or discordian learns about magick. Example of a sigil made using a sigil diagram. Sigils have existed for years, in the form of protective symbols and good-luck charms. Generally, the symbols of tribes or clans carry some meaning to them, and for the tribesmen; are associated with familiarity and safety. Sigils have grown to represent the "energy" of entities, feelings and concepts. Words themselves evoke emotion within people, but longer sentences can sometimes be too long to use in magick, bringing us toward sigils and hypersigils. Sta...

Enchanting

Knowing how to imbue your intent into objects is a common skill learnt accidentally by most witches. It's the first step towards finding the magickal method that works best for you, as it's a key component to strengthening your magickal workings. The most important things enchanting produces are: sigilization, blessed water, protective charms, spell jars, spell candles and any other form of sympathetic magick. Austin Osman Spare, the father of Chaos Magic, used a method of manifestation where he drew pictures of what he wanted to happen over and over again. They started to work the more he drew them. The image itself becomes charged the more it gets drawn— within flow state. Gnosis is important for "charging" items, which requires flow state if you cannot use any other gnostic states. But if you're not artsy and can't access creative flow, then this method is going to be a little hard. The acquisition of naturally magical objects are rather interesting. Whe...

Setting Up An Altar

Altars are a great way to show your devotion towards your practice. Most altars are practice-linked and require some real knowledge to create, but for beginners it can just be a setup of things that makes their practice feel more real. When I was a beginner, I used to look for decent naturally occurring items from outside to put onto my makeshift altar. I used to collect small dried pine cones, pine needles to make small besoms, feathers and river rocks to put on it. There is no limit to what you can put on it. But as you develop your practice, your idea of what you can put on your altar will change as well. The point is to make sure you have all the tools you need near or on your altar at all times, and that they’re either cleansed or charged (or both) properly before use. Besides your BOS, you’re probably going to need fancy magical paper in case you need to create a ritual or complex spell, which can be made by just dipping printing paper in tea for 10 seconds and hanging it in the ...

Components of Successful Spellwork

Spellwork encompasses magical practices that involve rituals, herbs, tools, or symbols. Optimizing the nuanced elements of witchcraft can significantly enhance the outcomes. However, this necessitates a thorough comprehension of the purpose behind these components. Each element contributes to achieving a magical mindset and approaching gnostic states. The discussion will cover the use of idols, creation of sacred spaces, employment of tools, and the significance of herbs, crystals, and colors. General Spellwork & Egregores In many basic practices, the core focus is an idol who grants their will. The idol is a statue, sigil, or object representing the being, servitor, or egregore you use to manifest. An idol often acts as a central point, capturing and intensifying one's thoughts and emotions, which in turn empowers the idol as it reflects your desires. This concept is pivotal in various religious and spiritual practices, where the physical representation of an idol becomes ...

Connections

Linking is the act of creating active bridges connecting intent, operator, target, or construct. Structural links are subsets of larger constructs that serve to relay information or effects, created consciously and purposefully. Conceptual links, on the other hand, are applied automatically and unknowingly as we connect different words or ideas together while structuring or thinking out a spell—such as linking "protect" and "me" to form "protect me." Links can be established with people, objects, organisms, concepts, and thoughtforms. Repeated chanting of incantations is a prime example of building a conceptual link; saying the intent out loud multiple times drives it deep into the mind. The mind interprets what is spoken, and once the mage fully "understands," they enter a flow state close to gnosis, allowing the spell to lock in. The mind makes these connections naturally as you repeat the exact same intent over and over to solidify that flow. ...

Short Guide To Thoughtforms

Magical Conceptualization: Basic Thoughtforms The Foundations of Metaphysical Conceptuality In the metaphysical realm, various conceptualized entities, representations, and personifications exist, which hold significance within different belief systems. These entities often share similarities across these systems, with one likely being a modified version of another. Typically, they embody one or more facets of life, and people may invoke them, hoping these entities will influence certain aspects of their lives or grant their desires. Most deities align with a range of human-like archetypes. The "humanity" in these archetypal deities becomes more evident as society progresses as these godforms maintain their age-old characteristics within their respective belief systems and rituals. This raises the question: How can we construct a timeless belief system, but still be "human" enough for people to relate to? This can be answered by examining various human archetypes . ...

Energy Programming

This entire post has a lot to unpack. I hope you'll find it helpful for you. Thoughtforms are intent-based constructs charged with energy. Spells and energy constructs are examples of this. Spells are usually very abstract, and work in very arbitrary ways. An example of a spell would be wanting a high test score, casting the spell a week or two before you write the test, then getting the exact questions you need to do well. It's moreso influencing probability than anything else. My theory is that they make changes at a fundamental level, which butterfly effects into the outcome you wished for. That is why giving spells some time is the best way to make sure they work. Thoughtforms can develop sentience as with many other objects birthed from the Astral Plane (or the conceptual domain ). If you start talking to them, they might talk back by developing a personality. They might even become a Tulpa, which is a sentient TF with a personality, memories and everything. Godforms may ...

Basic Guide to Energy-flow Use

Today, we will learn to control what I call energy-flow. It is the energy our bodies create in excess when in a state of pure focus or during their optimal function. Developing Ki/Psi Control Look for a quiet place to do this, as you would for meditation. Get into a comfortable position. Close your eyes. Forget about controlling energy and everything else bothering you. And stress, you will release through your breath. Breathe in while counting to four. Hold your breath for three, and breathe out in four. As you breathe out, feel the tension leaving your body. Repeat this, but try to focus on the area right under your nostrils. To visualise energy is easy. You can visualise it as a white or golden light, which is most commonly used. Or you can visualise it as an element like water or fire. Now, we'll start trying to feel our basic energy. Focus on your chest, your head and the lower abdomen, below your navel. These are the three locations of the dan-tiens. Let's call them energ...

Chaos Magick vs. Psionics

As a chaote, you might hear about a lot of weird concepts you probably wouldn't understand right away. This brings us to the 4 main paradigms: the Spirit model, the Energy model, the Psychological model and the Information model. The 5th model is basically a mixture of some of them, a hybrid model called the Meta model.  Each model symbolizes a prevalent superstition, practice, or field of study intimately linked to the functioning of magic within their specific environments. The original guide by Frater U.D., the creator of this analytical framework, serves to elucidate the origins of these models, enabling one to differentiate among them. The model system may appear somewhat unfinished; however, fundamentally: the spirit model pertains to the belief in a higher power, the energy model to the manipulation of life force, the psychological model to altered states of consciousness, subconscious programming, sigilization, and so forth, while the information model relates to th...

Gnosis: Altered Mental States

Gnosis encompasses various mental states in which a practitioner engages in mystical experiences, such as one-pointedness or Samadhi. Often, these states are brief but can be extended through practice. Typically, reaching this state is essential for manifestation. Flow, considered one of the mildest forms of gnosis, remains adequate for consistent manifestation according to the magician's experience. Most common cult-based initiatory practices use very unusual forms of initiation, such as trauma, sexual arousal— especially edging, singing and dancing, or repeating something until that critical moment you reach where you're about to give in. These may not always induce gnosis per se, but allow it to be achieved quicker, albeit through submission or yielding to a master. That said, I will touch upon these practices. Note: I'm not entirely sure if connections are considered a gnostic state, although I think they are. Trauma When we experience trauma, we generally find ourselv...

Let's Explore Energy, Shall We?

Energy is the capability to do work, but in magick, it powers intent. Every single thing we do and feel are energies interacting with each other, like quantum fields do in reality. Similarly, theosophical planes can interact with each other. Changes to one plane of existence can affect the other: some strongly and others not so much. How well they affect one another depends on some factors, which have been attempted to be elaborated upon by multiple establishments. Two important concepts you need to know about before proceeding: Vibration or frequency is a common word used in (esoteric or theosophical) energy work to distinguish between higher planes and the lower ones. A lower vibrational energy would be negative, while positive would be a higher vibrational energy. Negative corresponding with malice, depression, sadness, guilt etc. Positive corresponding with the opposite: compassion, happiness, confidence, etc. These also correspond to their respective realms, such as hell and heave...
